McMaster University Faculties and the Office of the Provost have launched two new funds to support forcibly displaced students, scholars and researchers. This includes refugees, those displaced within their country of origin, or those living in conflict-ridden situations and at risk of violence.

Through the establishment of these two funds, McMaster is strengthening its commitment to global citizenship and collective impact.

“These funds are a critical step in our response to the forcible displacement of students and scholars globally,” says provost and vice-president, Academic Susan Tighe. “This work also builds on McMaster’s commitment to increased access to education for all, and will complement the university’s existing global engagement programs.”

Additional funds raised will be added to the university and Faculties’ contributions, and can be directed to one of the two following funds:

- The McMaster Fund for Forcibly Displaced Researcher and Scholars will support the hiring of forcibly displaced researchers and scholars to participate in the University’s research projects

- The McMaster Fund for Forcibly Displaced Students will be granted to forcibly displaced undergraduate and graduate students at McMaster
