[Vancouver] Alumni talk with Simon Choa-Johnston '72

Join McMaster Alumni for a talk by alumnus Simon Choa-Johnston '72 about his book The House of Wives. Set in Hong Kong and inspired by the lives of his ancestors, the book details the machinations of the early opium trade through a story about two women determined to establish a dynasty for their children in the tumultuous British Crown Colony.
Simon has also had a long and successful career as a playwright, director and teacher. He is currently Artistic Director Emeritus at the Richmond Gateway Theatre. For his remarkable contribution to tourism and theatre in Canada, Simon was awarded the Governor General's "Canada 125 Medal" in 1993. In 1995, he won Theatre BC's National Playwriting Competition and has been honoured with several other awards and nominations including the McMaster Alumni Gallery Award.
Karen McQuigge, Director of the Office of Alumni Advancement, will be in Vancouver to bring news and greetings from campus and looks forward to seeing you there.
