Summer 2016

On a hot July day, enjoy some stories inspired by donors like you

Why You Matter to McMaster

Thanks to donors like you, McMaster is an amazing place to learn and grow.

You may make a gift to McMaster once or twice a year, but donors like you influence the University every day. These are just a few of the many stories about the impact of our donors. Thank you for making McMaster one of the world’s great universities.

Meet the 2016 valedictorians

They are bright, accomplished, and determined. In June, these new graduates joined the ranks of McMaster alumni. In a short and fun Q & A, they share their biggest accomplishment so far, lessons learned, what they plan to do next, and how appreciative they are of the support of McMaster donors. Thanks to donors like you, they are also inspired to give back to Mac.

Anna D'Angela '13 has spent much of her time at Mac working to enrich her school and community. As an Arts & Science student, she took on numerous leadership roles and she served on the MSU executive. Now, as an MBA student, Anna gives back as a volunteer and a donor.

Anna is the grateful recipient of many donor-funded awards. In turn, she is helping to unlock potential for current students by paying forward an enriching student experience.

Mac10 young alumni support bursaries, mental health, clean water, and nutrition projects

Graduates from the last decade are joining together to give to niche projects on campus. The projects include the Mac10 Bursary, McMaster's safeTALK program, McMaster's Water Network, and the Student Wellness Centre's nutrition program. This Mac10 initiative is funding important current needs at McMaster, and it highlights the fact that when we each give a give a little, we give a lot in impact.

Faculty & Staff #givemaroon

Supporting McMaster's LIVELab and Music and the Mind Institute was the perfect way for this McMaster family to #givemaroon. All said, members of the extended Smith-Grunthals have a combined 90 years of service to McMaster as staff and faculty, as well as time spent as students.

They’re just some of the many people who supported the University in April during the Give Maroon faculty and staff fundraising campaign; a campaign that is just one of many highlighting the broad spectrum of donors who contribute to McMaster's culture of philanthropic support.

Philanthropy is an important part of our society and an important part of our lives as donors. A great deal of our University’s success depends on our culture of philanthropic support and it is a privilege to count you among our donors. Thank you.
