A native of Hamilton, Gillian Cooper graduated from McMaster University
with a degree in Art History in 1994. After convocation, Gillian
continued to be a vital part of the McMaster community, donating her
time, tireless energy and enthusiasm to the University. She has made
dynamic and important contributions to McMaster over many years and
through many initiatives, including her ardent support of the McMaster
Museum of Art.
Gillian’s efforts extend into many University endeavours. In 1994
Gillian became a member of the McMaster University President’s Club
Executive Committee. In 1997, she joined the Board of Governors, where
her dedication and commitment were a welcome addition. Gillian also
proved herself an integral member of the Campaign Cabinet for the
successful Changing Tomorrow Today fundraising campaign. She is also the
Past Chair of the McMaster Museum of Art. Currently, Gillian is a
Cabinet Member of The Campaign for McMaster and she also participates on
numerous Board committees and Chair of the President’s Club. Gillian’s
contributions to the McMaster Alumni Association are countless and her
enthusiastic commitment to the growth of McMaster University makes her
an outstanding candidate for the Distinguished Service Award.
Gill and her husband Bill have been married for 42 years and live in Oakville. They have 3 children and almost 6 grandchildren.
