Join us for a talk by Lawrence Martin who will share stories of his long and distinguished career as a journalist encompassing his career as bureau chief in Washington, Montreal and Moscow where he opened the paper's first bureau in 1985 and his tenure as Ottawa columnist covering the Chretien, Paul Martin and Harper governments.

A graduate of the McMaster Class of 1969 and member of the McMaster Alumni Gallery, Lawrence Martin, who later did a Masters at Harvard's Kennedy School has had a distinguished journalism career and is now based in Washington as the Globe’s public affairs columnist covering the strange presidency of Donald Trump.

He will also talk about how his experience at McMaster as editor of The Silhouette laid the foundation for his journalism career.

Lawrence is the author of ten books, including six national best sellers. His books include The Presidents and The Prime Ministers on Canada-U.S. relations, a two-volume biography of Jean Chretien, books on Mikhail Gorbachev and Stephen Harper and two sports books - a biography of hockey star Mario Lemieux and The Red Machine, a history of hockey in Russia.
